If the weather is nice, have the Tiger Cubs go outside and play Freeze Tag while they wait for everyone to arrive. Ask the adult partners to go outside and supervise.
If the weather is not nice, have the Tigers make helicopters as they arrive.
First, have everyone say the Tiger Motto "Search, Discover, Share" over and over again, like a chant.
Then, have everyone say the den cheer that was previously selected. Repeat if needed until everyone knows it well.
Talk about "favorite vacations". Where have the tigers gone on vacation and what have they done? What makes a vacation enjoyable? Do vacations have to be expensive or busy to be enjoyed? What role do relatives play in vacations? Should vacations be the same every year?
Continue the discussion of maps from meeting #4.
Print a map of your hometown from www.topozone.com. (Hint, find the map of your town using a 1:24K series and a scale of 1:50,000 then use the "Print this map" link to print a clean copy for discussion.)
Have the scouts discuss how closely the hand drawn map from a previous meeting matches the topographic map. Discuss some of the symbols used on the topographic map. Use the map to point out locations where you're been or plan to go for "Go See It" activities.
Walk outside of your meeting place observing the plants, animals, and insects that you find. Make a leaf rubbing (see activity 5D in the Tiger Cub handbook).
Tiger Cubs exit the meeting room by tossing a ball to the den leader who says "See you next week" and then tosses the ball to the next boy. Repeat.
