When Scouts arrive, give them an Arrow Maze to work on.
Have your Den Chief or Denner lead an opening ceremony where the U.S. Flag is presented and the Pledge of Allegiance is recited. Then have them lead the den in saying the Cub Scout Promise.
Make sure that everyone in the den knows how to properly fold a U. S. Flag. Discuss flag etiquette with the den; discuss what the flag represents, why there are traditions for respecting the flag, and the role that Webelos Scouts and Boy Scouts can be expected to play in the community related to flag handling and flag ceremonies. (In a nutshell, they may be called upon by community organizations to lead flag ceremonies quite frequently.)
It's important to have a good outdoor program for Webelos dens. It helps prepare them for Boy Scouting. Your den should plan on having a number of den campouts and hikes throughout the year. Begin tonight by planning a den campout. The campout can be at the home of a leader or at a group campsite of a nearby state park. Be sure to discuss your plans with the Cubmaster and file a tour permit.
The Boy Scout Law is something that the Webelos will eventually have to learn in order to earn the Arrow of Light.
Have the Webelos Scouts say the Boy Scout Law in repeat-after-me fashion:
