Beginning in 2002, BSA began requiring that in order for a Cub Scout pack to go Family Camping at least one person in the pack has to have completed BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) training and that the person holding BALOO certification be present at the Family Campout during the entire event.
Your local District or Council will provide opportunities for BALOO training - check the District and Council websites for details.
BALOO is intended for new Cub Scout leaders and parents who have minimal camping skills and for experienced Cub Scout leaders who wish to plan Family Camping events. If you are interested in participating in BALOO training, please contact the Cubmaster.
