When Should I Use This Form?

Any time your den is not meeting at the Pack's normal meeting place, you must file for and receive a Tour Permit in advance. This includes any field trips that your den takes and also includes den meetings that take place at your home or some other location outside of the Pack's normal meeting place (Sunrise UMC).

If your trip is 500 miles or longer then a National Tour Permit must be filed, otherwise use the Local Tour Permit form.

Repeated meetings at a specific location (e.g., recurring den meetings at your home) can be reported on a single Tour Permit form by listing all of the dates.

If you have any doubt about whether a Tour Permit should be filed or not, file! This will assure that BSA insurance coverage is available.

Many Packs (including Pack 356) try to have a committee person designated to handle Tour Permits. If this is the case, send the information about your Tour to this person far enough in advance so that they have time to file the Permit.

If parents will drive their own children to the event, you can indicate this fact on the Local Tour Permit form and will not have to list the insurance information requested for each driver. If a driver will transport Scouts other than their own children, you are obligated to provide the requested vehicle, driver's license, and insurance information. (If you suspect that you will take a lot of trips, it would be advisable to collect this information from all potential drivers ahead of time and place it on file with the Pack Tour Permit person. Then you can simply tell them who is driving and they'll have all of the information that they'll need.)
