In Occoneechee Council, Pow Wow is typically held in the spring. Attendees can select about a half dozen sessions from more than 3 or 4 dozen offered. The topics cover a broad range and are suited for people in various positions within the Pack, including Den Leaders, Cubmasters, and Committee people. Here is a sampling of the sessions offered at the Occoneechee Council Pow Wow in March 2002:
But here is the best part - recognizing that you might want to attend ALL of these sessions and can't, the people who put on Pow Wow offer a book with ALL of the information presented at each session!
It gets better! Not only do many Councils offer a printed book, they also offer a CD ROM with all of the Pow Wow material on it!
And, believe it or not, this CD ROM that you are reading right now contains the Pow Wow books from a number of different Pow Wows held over the years all across the country! That's right! You have a WEALTH of useful information at your disposal! Just click on one of the these books and start exploring.
(I recommend that you start with the Occoneechee Council 2002 Pow Wow book - it is well organized, very complete, has crisp graphics, and includes a table of contents.)
One last thing - your pack can present you with a Square Knot Leader Recognition Award if you fulfill certain requirements that go along with each award. Attending a Pow Wow is not only a very beneficial experience for you as an Adult Leader - it meets one of the requirements for most of the Square Knot awards.
Some of these books are BIG! Please allow a few minutes for a selected
book to load (especially if you have an older computer)!
